I would like to include some context on the data we’re using for the app. I’m open to any suggestions, this is what i have so far:

Right now, you’re watching this on a phone. But do you ever wonder where it might end up? Who could even imagine a life without smart phones? It definitely has made our lives a lot easier, but there is a dark side to the wonders of modern technology. All these billion dollar smartphone companies conceal the reality behind their clean cutting edge images when advertising their products. From dangerous mining practices to hazardous chemical and poor recycling to excessive resource consumption driven by a business model. This business model counts on us buying a new phone every 2 years. This industry is casting a massive impact on our planet. Over 1.5 billion smart phones are sold each year, which means almost the same number of smart phones are discarded as well. Only 15% of e-waste is actually recycled properly. Most of this e-waste is processed in other countries like Ghana, India, and China, where recycling is unregulated, releasing toxic chemicals and heavy metals into the air and waterways causing significant harm to the workers as well as the environment.

These smart phones chew up energy resources and fuel climate change. While they are generally energy efficient to use, they actually require a lot of energy to manufacture due to their complexity.

By now, you’re probably wondering… so we don’t want to give up on using smartphones but do we really wanna be contributors to this sickening destruction of our planet and over exploitation of poor countries?

Ummmm Instead, you can be a part of the solution. You can look into greener electronic phone brands, ask yourself if you really need a new phone, learn to reuse, and explore electronic recycling places in your area.
